SACEM, the leading international collective management organization, has agreed a new partnership with US independent music publisher PEN Music Group, in a multi-territory mandate for digital licensing for one of its most significant catalogues.

SACEM will manage the collection and distribution of royalties for the online repertoire of the ‘Mother’s Finest Songs’ catalogue, recently acquired by Mothership Music Publishing and administered worldwide by PEN. The catalogue of over 350 songs, all co-written by Ivor Novello Award winner Pam Sheyne, includes hits such as Genie in a Bottle originally released by Christina Aguilera.

The Portuguese Author Day 2018 will be celebrated on May 22nd, which also marks the 93rd anniversary of the Portuguese Society of Authors (SPA). SIAE decided to celebrate the World Book and Copyright day and its own birthday by sending a colourful message to the sky.

We chose balloons, – states SIAE’s President, Filippo Sugar – because they fly like emotions. After signing one of the first deals announced by Facebook on behalf of Universal Music Publishing International last December, Sacem announces today that it has signed three deals with Facebook, covering the use of Sacem’s repertoire, as well as the Wixen Music Publishing’s repertoire and the repertoire of Canadian society SOCAN, the pan-European mandates have been expanded to include Facebook.

The deals will ensure that Sacem’s members and the other rights holders it represents are recognised and remunerated for their works.
